  • Ancestry - Aviators' certificates

Just noticed this on Ancestry - unfortunately I haven't found anyone on there (although I'm not surprised!) but it looks interesting and even includes some photos

Great Britain, Royal Aero Club Aviators’ Certificates, 1910-1950 - Ancestry.co.uk

I've just found my late father's - Henry Iliffe Cozens taken at the Cambridge Aero Club on 7.3.1938.

The concerning bit about this though is that he had already been on the artic air route expidition as the official pilot in 1932 and in 1938 was the CO of 19 Squadron with Spitfires (that he used to love flying!! :D) I hope it was a renewal one not his first!

At present: Marshall, Smith, Harding, Whitford, Lane (in and around Winchcomb).

I'm pleased someone has got something on there. There are some brilliant photos.

I was browsing earlier and Douglas Bader and Amy Johnson are also there.
