At first I was thinking her bonnet was 1870s, but I think I was a bit premature, and in fact it's early 1880s, this would make her in her 50s.......

They all have the same general face-shape and noses.

It's also rather noticeable that they two ladies both have very straight shoulders (ie not sloping) which for the second lady in particular wouldn't have been fashionable, so I assume this was the natural position she assumed for the photo. If the second lady isn't the mother of the other two then she could be their aunt or other close relation.

            Thank you Merry ....

I'm quite sure now that she is the correct one ....

            Hmmmm ....
so would everyone agree that the older person in this one is not the same woman ?

Definitely. Her face is far too broad at the top.

and she looks like Hitler ! .... poor old sausage

I still can't help thinking it's a man ... the neck seems odd and she has a very long arm

The children look very relaxed with her. Do you know who they are?

Noooooooooo :( this is another of the mysteries

Pic no. 3 (woman with bonnet) and this one, were sent to me a couple of years ago by a 'new' cousin.

At that time she had them both named as the same person ... our mutual gt gt gran and had thought the younger woman (in pic 4) to be her own gt gran.

A quick look at the other pics of her gt gran and it was clearly not a match.

The really irritating thing is that I have 2 photographs of unknowns and one of the boys in mine is almost without a doubt, the same boy as in hers.

Don dated my pics and cousin's but we have never been able to identify who the subjects might be .... I did have a theory about who mine might be but the dates didn't quite work out and I have recently managed to confirm this.

We are certain that they are the same branch of the family

                      Hi Rachel

I don't think it's the same lady because if you measure the distance from the top of her head to where her eyebrows start then the forehead on the first picture is much bigger compared to the second. (You have to look at the proportions when measuring as the 2nd pic is smaller)

I don't know if that helps at all?
