The month and year refer to the month and year in which the birth was registered not when it happened. The months are divided into quarters, so first quarter is Jan-Mar etc. It's quite possible for a baby to be born in December but not registered until January of the following year.
The GRO just need the month & year of registration, registration district and vol & page, unless its a recent birth.~ with love from Little Nell~Chowns, Dunt, Emms, Mealing, Purvey & Smoothy
