Hi Debbie
Ok you will first need to export your ancestry tree
go to manage my tree - on ancestry
then
management tools - export tree
depending on how big the file is, it may take a little while
follow the on screan instructions and save it to your pc then come onto this site click the GEDCOM button and follow the steps
really easy, if you get stuck yellLast edited by vikki brace; 22-06-08, 21:27.Vikki -

Hi Debbie
To export your tree from Ancestry as a GEDCOM file first go to your tree then hit the "manage tree" option (illustrated below)
Next hit the "export tree" next to management tools (illustrated below).
Ancestry should then e-mail the file to your inbox (it should come as an attachment to an e-mail), save it to your pc and you can then upload/e-mail it to other sites/researchers as needed.Last edited by Glen in Tinsel Knickers; 22-06-08, 21:30.http://www.flickr.com/photos/50125734@N06/

Ive just tried to upload mine from GR and followed the correct procedure and it said successfully uploaded but added none of my tree at all.
Does anybody know why?

I am afraid they are having some problems at the moment Debbie. It say it has been uploaded but then nothing actually goes into the database.
I am sure they will sort it out soon. I am waiting to be able to get my gedcom on and there are several others who want to update theirs.

Unless you have more than 2000 people in your tree, then I doubt you are having problems because of a site issue.
Sometimes it is not possible to download directly from Ancestry and then upload to FTF, without opening the gedcom in a family history program and re-exporting a new gedcom. Do you have a family history program on your computer?Elaine
