OH's mum Lily, born 1918, would the clothes be of the 1930's or 1940's????

I would think 1930s would be more likely as in the 1940s the hemlines went up to save material (could be early 40s though).

Nice bicycle and shoes .... she looks as if she might be in her early teens ....
Is she left handed ? I'm only asking because the bell is on the left .... haven't ridden a bike for years but thought I had my bell on the right

Thanks for the replies Shirley & Rachel,

I have enlarged the image to try and see if she has a wedding ring on her finger, but can't see:(( I think it must be before her marriage in 1945) when she was 27, but Roger doesn't recognize the house in the background!!!!

So I must assume Lily was in late teens early twenties.

Rachel, Roger says that in Salford it was a quirk that all bikes had the bells on the left hand side!!!!!! Lily was right handed by the way

Hi, I think your mum and her bike date from the middle to late 1930s.

:D .... My thought that she might be in her early teens, is because she doesn't appear to have much of a 'figure'

Rachel, my thoughts exactly, Lily had a double curvature of the spine, she also had half a lung removed which caused the double scoliosis, the operations were done in the late 40's & early 50's so I think she is as most people agree in her late teens or early twenties, thanks for the help folks :D

Can't see a light on the bike. Would this suggest wartime blackout?
