  • Moran confusion - help needed please

    Hello everybody

Right, i have Thomas Moran and his wife Margaret who came over from Ireland sometime between 1841 and 1849.

    Thomas was a Farmer.

Now in 1851 i have Thomas's children Peter - 25 Patrick - 23 Bridget -17 and Thomas - 16 living in a lodging house with their other sister Mary who was married to the lodging house keeper John McGough (John and Mary married in Chester in 1849).
There is no sign of the parents Thomas and Margaret.

Addy of lodging house was 50 Steven st, Boughton, Chester Cheshire.

Now in 1861 i have the mother Margaret aged 65 living with John Gough and Mary at 16 Steven st, Bouhgton Chester.
Also living with them is Mary's brother Patrick Moran aged 40.
It looks like Margaret is still down as married but with no sign of Thomas.

My question is can anybody spot Thomas in any census and Margaret in the 1851 census?

I cant seem to locate them.

    Many thanks

    Danny

Maybe the parents didn't come over with the children.

Wasn't there a Thomas as a patient in hospital in Cheshire (1851) born 1802 ?
(if I remember correctly) ... but think it said unmarried

did you have a year of birth for him ?

Have you looked on the Overleigh Cemetery site? There are a few Morans and Goughs on there including some who lived in Steven St.
