Please can someone explain how to send photos with Outlook express without them appearing in the text. I'm sure I used to be able to send/receive pictures just as an attachment and not in the email itself.
Thanks.
You add them as attachments. Open a new e-mail and at the top there should be a paper clip icon. Click on this and find the photo you want to send or any other file and it will add them to the e-mail. Write your message and send.

PLEASE SCAN AT 300-600 DPI FOR RESTORATION PURPOSES. THANK YOU!
That's exactly what I do but the pics. still end up in the body of the message too. As a result it takes ages to send/receive. It's only since I changed computer so I think there must be something somewhere to click to stop it happening but I'm a computer illiterate!!!
I know what you mean, Cath, because I remember on my old computer it wasn't like that and now it is, but I didn't realise the image was actually sent twice - I thought it was just sent once but displayed twice? Anyway, I don't know how to stop it happening!

If you google "outlook express" image attachment display you will find lots about it.
It does seem as if the display is just a display, not actually sending or receiving the image twice, so I wouldn't worry about it, but if you do want to stop the image displaying on your computer there are some suggestions at this link: O.E. embeds images of attachments in the body of a note
Some of the other matches you will find for the above Google search also have suggested fixes - something to do with editing the Registry so it could be dodgy if you don't know what you're doing!!
