FreeBMD have transcribed the page as 42_

So the original must be bad. If you apply to the GRO for the cert., they should be able to find it by looking at that ten pages of entries.

Are the details correct? Can't get anything to come up with those above.

PLEASE SCAN AT 300-600 DPI FOR RESTORATION PURPOSES. THANK YOU!

Wendy - I only found it in FreeBMD by searching for Ros* Litt*, so the indexing must be a bit poor.

Just found it on Ancestry full index, but it isn't very clear on there either.

Gracious Uncle John, I have looked at the images on both FreeBMD & Ancestry and thought that it was 27_ (maybe 4 or 6)!!!! :o Better put my specs on and have another look! ;)

For once the FreeBMD version of the page is slightly better than the ancestry one. I think it's 4a 276, the 6 being the only dodgy number.

If you are ordering the cert online then you could perhaps say something about the dodgy number in the ref checking box. The worst is they might look through pages 270-279 for you!! (so shouldn't take them very long)

                Thanks Wendy for looking...
Thanks Merry...if I order, do I say that I don't know the number or yes, I do and only put part of it in?

I would act as if you do know the number and put in what ever you think is right. Then where it asks do you want a reference check (is that on the last page of the order?)? say Yes, but rather than saying "father's name must be George", or whatever, say "page number illegible, could be 270-279" or similar.

                    Good Luck!
