Army records not found ??? do they keep the money

I sent for some army papers, I do know the name and date of birth but not his army number
Got a letter today to say they could not find them , but no refund ??? does that mean I have lost the £30 ????
Thought I'd ask here first before I ring them

It looks like its bad news Val. Go to page 3 of this link under "Finding the file".

"If a search is unsuccessful we are unable to refund payment"

oh blimey !!!! I have a feeling this man used a different name to his birth name , oh well what a waste thanks Jackie .

It might still be worth ringing them to see if they'll re-look under the different name. Can't hurt to try.

well it was a nice letter saying if I got any more info they would look !! and how disappointed I must be .
I wasnt too disapppointed till I realised it had cost me £30 !!!!!!!!!!!
