Found the following baptism on IGI:

    JOHN AUGUSTUS FREDERICK HIGHO
Birth: 15 OCT 1815 Christening: 03 MAR 1816 Saint Luke Old Street, Finsbury, London Parents: JOHN HIGHO & ELIZABETH batch # C020693

    and a burial on findmypast:

    City of London Burials
John Augustus HIGHO Age at death: 35 (1785)
burial: 22 October 1820 St Luke, Old Street
    address at death: Old Street

I went to the LMA and checked burial register as I thought perhaps age was really 5 and had been mistranscribed as 35, but it is very clearly 35. I cannot find out what happened to JAFH born 1815, nor can I find a likely baptism for JAH who died 1820. I think they must be related, but cannot see how. JAH is too young to be brother of JAFH'S father.

Well at least that's eliminated your chap from the inquiry.

                    Thanks Zoe!

there's a James and Phoebe Higho having children at St Leonards about the right time

(see James Higho 1791 on IGI)

I'd got James and Phoebe - James b 1791 is 1st cousin to John Higho b 1777. Thanks, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I have got dates coming out of my ears after a busy day at the LMA.

Thanks Zoe. When I get to the Guildhall I will check James' baptism to see if I can find any clues.

                        PS
Poop! Checked my notes and found I've already done this - no occupation for James senior, only additional info is family address of "East Row"!

I see you checked the burial register but have you checked the baptisms and marriages also?
                          Cheers

                            Hallo Guy

No - St Lukes Old Street is a ginormous parish with pages and pages for each month, so I will be tackling that later. Yesterday I was just going for events for which I'd found dates on the IGI/City Burials.

Thanks anyway, I'm sure that's the next step.

I was so pleased to have Higho as a name as it is quite unusual, but it has been mangled so much - Highor, Hyho, Hygho and even (found by Merry) Hio!

                                Hallo Sue.

I have that marriage. There are lots of Highos on IGI in Suffolk but haven't yet tied them into my lot. John Higho (1777-1842) says on 1841 census that he was born in Middlesex, though of course Elizabeth (died 1830 could have come from there.

                                Thanks for looking.
