    Hello

    Im off to the cheshire archives soon and i was just wondering if when searching a birth for one of my rellies, would it give me the MMN or will it just state her married name?

    Do you mean in the baptisms? Usually it will only have the father's full name plus mother's first name. Unless the child was illegitimate, in which case it will have the mother's full name.

    Some of the older baptism registers don't give the mother's name at all.

        Yes, but you won't find that at the Cheshire Archives! (sorry, stating the obvious )

            It would be worth looking for the birth entry on Cheshire BMD as mother's maiden name may be listed on there:
