  • Can anyone read this on 1841 census

Ancestry has this person transcribed as HANDIN TINKSON

It's a woman (if the age is in the right column) and the man with her is called George Sam, but that's as far as I can get

Wondering if it's a mistranscribed Linkson

    Cheers

      I haven't got a clue - that's my problem!!

Having found one earlier mistranscribed as Hinkson I'm steadily going through any letters of the alphabet that an L could look like

I'm missing a Rose Ann Linkson but she'd married in 1839 unlikely to be her.

Only other women who was possibly still alive at this time but I've not got is:

      Emma Abigail b1832

Not to say there's not more that I haven't found so far as her age makes her pre-registration

I THINK it says Evelyn Tinkson. Almost definitely NOT an L.

If you look at the word Lambeth at the top of the page, the L is formed quite differently, as is the Lyle person on the opposite page.

          No, I think it's R Harding Tinkler.

          This lady:

          Deaths Jun 1891 (>99%)
          Tinkler Rebecca Harding 77 Wandsworth 1d 504

She's with son George in 1851.

Ah yes - I could see the underhanger in the name and was trying to think of all the female names with a y near the end.

            Well done Mary!

There's an Emma Linkson born c. 1830 here - is that the one you were looking for?

Got her already thanks Mary - that's my main line

I was just playing around with possible mistranscriptions to see what popped up
