caveat when using death indexes Ancestry

For those using the transcribed 1984-2007 indexes.

I came across someone who'd died in a tragedy aged 20 death registered 1990.

The tragedy was subject of an investigation as a result of which her death was re-registered in 2003. She appears aged 33.

So the age in the index is not the age given on the death cert, but guessed at by deducting her birth year from the death year.

That is extremely interesting Nell, thankyou and well worth bearing in mind when searching for elusive deaths.
