Hi
many years ago my late Aunt said there were vikings in the family. Of course I took it with a pinch of salt. However her father, my grandfather born 1885, has a middle name which is NEIJBER which is a scandinavian surname, found in Denmark and Sweden. There are no Neijber's on the census's and only one on BMD and that is a marriage, in Liverpool, where my grandfather as born.
Why would someone give their son a foreign name unless there is some substance to it, which I have not found in my tree. I have gone right back on that side to the mid 1600's and found nothing. The only thing I haven't found is my grandfather's maternal grandmother's maiden name. Any suggestions please, all would be helpful.
