  • ordering a marriage certificate

I am trying to order my great grandparents marriage certificate, but I do not know the exact date, only what I found on Ancestry, and I am unable to order. Can anyone help me please!

Are you trying to order it from the GRO (General Register Office) online, or from the local register office?

The local one may well need the date and venue but the GRO just need the names (as they are entered on the indexes) along with the year, quarter, volume and page number. They don't beed the date.

      Here's the website:

Val, I think Debbie is overseas, so I presume it will cost slightly more for the extra postage??

The £7 charged by the GRO includes airmail postage overseas.

Yeah, although apparently it doesn't necessarily mean direct airmail! Mine have been coming via France lately, lol!
