  • Henry and Rachel Woods

    Had three surviving children:

    Frank 1859
    Elizabeth 1861 and
    Harriet 1864 (Epsom)

I can find the family in 1861 and 1871 but not in 1881.

Both Henry and Rachel appear to die in the 1880s in Croydon, which is where I would expect to find them in 1881, but I'm blowed if I can, or any of the children.

In 1871, Henry says he was born in Ewhurst.

I can find a John Woods married to an Emily in Croydon, but this looks like Henry's brother.

    Can anyone find them, please?

The only Henry & Rachel (Rachael) Woods I could find are here in 1881:
    RG11; Piece: 771; Folio: 6; Page: 6

    Both born Windlesham, Surrey.

Although their ages don't tally with 1871. Henry is 45 (1836) & Rachel is 40 (1841) Henry is an ag lab and they are on their own living in Chertsey Rd, Windlesham.

Sorry Phoenix, don't think they are your Henry & Rachel Woods. The couple I found in 1881 are also on 1871.

I'm not awake properly yet! I should have checked that first!

        Thanks for looking, Sue!

I really feel that as this family is on my patch, I ought to be able to find them, but I just cannot see them. He only had the one name, so ought to be visible somewhere!
