  • Scotlands People - slow service - cert. order

I ordered my father's birth certificate on 1st May.

They say to allow 20 working days + time for delivery, which I suppose is about now, but it does seem a huge amount of time.

I have just e-mailed them to ask when I can expect delivery.

Has anyone else had experience of this service and how long would you expect to wait? As he was born in 1920 this is the only way I can obtain a copy of his birth certificate.

Well done Scotlands People - I had a reply to my e-mail within the hour telling me that my certificate was sent out by first class post and is winging its way to me as I type!

I thought I might need to wait a lot longer for a reply.

I have found their email responses to be both quick and helpful.

        hi,
Just to add, I too have found SP very helpful.
If you ever get a downloaded cert that is very poor quality and you struggle to view it then e mail them and they will get it re scanned and send a better image, no extra charge.
I have had this done a few times and one scan which was just a blur came out really well after they re did it.

The reply was very quick, but to me 4 weeks seems a long time to wait for a certificate.

It does seem a long time. It could be because they have been making quite a few changes to both New Register house and next door at the The Scottish Achieves. Builders were still there about 3 weeks ago.
