  • Abit of a confusing problem

    Hi everyone

I have just been shown an Adam Platt that looks to be my guy on a boat in 1861, he was born in Barnton (Bampton) and on the boat he is with someone called Enock Platt (assume brother) and my Adam called his son Enoch which made me think that he was my guy.

    RG9; Piece: 2743; Folio: 69; Page: 49; GSU roll: 543022

Then straight below that one was another Adam Platt born same place and near enough same time with another Enoch living in the household.

    Class: RG9; Piece: 4501; Folio: 226; Page: ; GSU roll: 850887.

Am i just being thick or is that just madness?

Looks like the dad and two son's were on the boat at the time and when the enumerator came a knocking someone said they were in the house on the day (thinking that the enumerator wanted to know who lived at that addtess.

It's probably the same people.......I expect they were really on the boat, but got included with the rest of the family because they filled in the form on the wrong day or just thought they should include everyone!

My great-grandfather managed in 1871 to be at home with his mother, wife and two sons and simulataneously on a fishing smack in Yarmouth Harbour!
