  • Army service numbers on Certs?

    Hi Everyone

I am sure I read somewhere that soldiers often put their service number (WW2) on marriage cert or children's birth cert. Is this pot luck? and would it be more likely on the marriage? Sorry but am trying to limit number of certs as have a big order

    Thanks in advance

    Kaz,

I have my dad's army service number on his marriage cert and on my sister's birth cert. This was in 1951

researching Matchett, McFarland, Dick, Ewing, Koehler or Kohler, Nairn and Young.

Sounds like pot luck. It's not on my parents' marriage cert (June 1945), although my dad hadn't actually been demobbed yet, and got married in uniform.

Not on my birth cert either, but he was out of the Air Force by then.

          Thanks Raven, Val and Mary!

A bit of pot luck then!

I shall send off for the marriage first I think - so fingers crossed - I want to send off for his Military records and am so hoping to give them as much info as I can.
