Hoping some one can help me out here as I'm so confused (more than normal :D). Sorry if this is long winded but here goes,

    I have Henry Harrison b 1850 Clerkenwell (1871 census) married to a Frances Pugh, June 1870,Marylebone,Middlesex 1a, 934.

Henry father I have as Barnard Harrison b 1814 Southgate,Middlesex and Mother Mary Ann Cox married June 1838 Bloomsbury Middlesex, Vol 1, page 67.

Now the problem I have is someone has contacted me from Aus, wondering if we have a connection but this is what she has

    Henry Harrison b 1850 Hadley,Middlesex married to Clara Eleanor Smith in 3Q 1885 Barnet vol 3a Page 297, Clara was b 2Q 1855 Bromley,Kent.
and has this Henry as the son of Barnard!!!!

I have tried to see who's right and who's wrong and have now gone crossed eyed.

Can any one sort this out or can point me in the right direction please

    Thanks

Southgate was in Edmonton reg district. There's no Henry Harrison birth in Edmonton 1849-51 on Ancestry Freebmd.

Hadley, formerly known as Monken Hadley, was in Middlesex until 1889 when it transferred to Hertfordshire. It was in Barnet reg district - and of course there's no birth registered in Barnet for a Henry Harrison same dates!

This could be registration for your chap
Henry Thomas Harrison 1849 Oct-Nov-Dec Clerkenwell

but Clerkenwell isn't near Southgate or Hadley.

              Thanks Nell and Sue

Sue I have that census already but thank you but on the 1881 census Herny is still at home aged 21, but I have him married to Frances at 20

I have just look at the 1881 census and Henry is down as a widower so perhaps Clara was a second marriage

Monken Hadley Henry is 31 in 1881, not 21.

As I say, Monken Hadley is not anywhere near Clerkenwell. Where did you get the Clerkenwell reference from?

                          1861 - the Hadley chap
Henry Harrison abt 1850 Hadley, Middlesex, England Servant Hadley, Middlesex

No one born Clerkenwell, though there is this chap
Henry Harrison (parents: Thos & Maria) abt 1849 Pancras, Middlesex, England Son St Pancras, Middlesex

Pancras is on the border of Clerkenwell.

I think you have got two different chaps entangled. You need the marriage cert for your chap to see what his father's name was.

Can't see any other Henry's (1850 Clerkenwell) in 1861. Lots born Middlesex, around the right time, but I don't know if any of the places are close enough to Clerkenwell.

1881 the Pancras Henry Harrison is married to Mary and is an organ builder's turner.
                              RG11 Piece / Folio 0177 / 120 Page 59

I think you need to start with what you definitely KNOW about your Henry and work backwards to untangle this. What relation is he to you?

I think you right Nell, told you I was in a muddle lol, Clerkenwell I got from one of the census, lets start from the beginning.

Nina V Harrison was the grandmother of the OH, she was born 2 Nov 1908, have her birth cert, parents were George William, Hairdresser.

George W married Ada Clarke have cert, George's father was Henry Harrison, Clerk,

Right think I know where I have gone wrong have 1881 census RG11/137 p 7

Henry J age 31 b St Pancreas, no wife
                                George W age 10 b Marylebone
                                Henry J age 8 b Marylebone
David C (I think) age 6 b looks like Peckham

So need to find this family on 1871 with wife

IF your Henry is a widower in 1881 and the Monken Hadley chap still a bachelor in 1881 then they must be two different people.

The tricky bit is him saying born Clerkenwell.

OH's Clerkenwell lot like to say London (!), Shoreditch, Hoxton, City of London, Holborn, Pancras and various other places, all of which border Clerkenwell.

I wasn't able to locate this chap definitely. I think you might need to get the marriage cert to find his father's name and occupation which would help find the right census pre-1871.

I see in 1871 he was with his Pugh inlaws who may have mistaken his birthplace. He says Pancras in 1881.
