  • Army Service Corps. WW1

Further to my thread re. the RFC, does anyone know if someone working for the Army Service Corps would have been 'seconded' to another Corps -
ie though we always were told that my G'dad was in the RFC, he was a clerk so maybe was seconded from the ASC

This could explain why I can't find him mentioned anywhere or on a medal card under the RFC (though probably not!)

Any thoughts on this greatly appreciated

ps sorry spelt SERVICE wrong but can't change it!

Allie, one of my rellies was seconded to the RAF from his regiment, but his medal card says both on it. Another of my rellies was in the ASC at one time and transferred to or from it, not sure which, and again, it lists both on his medal card.

      Thanks Kate

I just keep drawing blanks with this - there are a couple of cards on Ancestry with a similar name, but none have any info on them which could relate to my Granddad.

I just have a go every now and then!

Allie, Phil said if you have his name and possible address and service number why not write to Army Records to ask them about his service.

          Hi Daphne

Unfortunately I don't have any of this info! Just know that he was in the RFC as a clerk and stationed in France.

I did contact the RAF Museum ( think it was there) but they were no help.......

          Thanks anyway!
