Windows XP Service Pack 3

This is showing as a critical update for my PC. Has anyone downloaded it;is it properly tested or will it send my computer haywire like one of their updates did once before?

Hi Ann,

No idea as yet.

I tried 3 times to download this update on hubbie's desktop the other evening.

It said download time approx 40 mins.

3 times it cut out whilst downloading so I gave up.

Have installed it on four machines so far with NO PROBLEMS whatsoever.

Machine Number 5 (my main machine) is updating now.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 now finally downloaded and installed on hubbie's desktop.

In the end I downloaded to a pen drive on my Vista laptop and saved to a flash drive.

Saves having to the download again but to O H laptop.

Download and installation took over and hour each.

However I had no winges as yet from him, so sounds like alls ok.

Thanks everyone for your input. I have just finished downloading and installing. It took just over an hour! As I live a long way from our telephone exchange, this was probably due to my poor connection speed (BT tell me I can never expect to get more than 2.5mb and I average about 2.2). I tried to do it last night but, after an hour and a half, absolutely nothing had happened so I gave up. When I tried again today it did seem to hang up a couple of times...but we got there eventually! Everything seems to be working OK too, I'm gald to say.
