I don't know the answer to this specific question, but is St Peter a sister church to St Matthew?

I mean, is St Matthew the parish church and St Peter a chapel of ease? When are we talking about?

The registration district of Ipswich was divided into the following sub disticts (nothing to do with parishes....it's a civil division of area rather than ecclesiastical)

Sub-districts : Ipswich; Ipswich Eastern; Ipswich Western; St. Clement; St. Margaret; St. Matthew

Those six sub districts covered 20 parishes including St Peter's Ipswich. I would imagine the ecclesiastical parish of St Peter is in the civil sub district of St Matthew.

I'm a bit confused about the 1821 event as that's before civil registration began!

Yes, though you may find one family using more than one church within a town.

place of bap ST PETER 25 /12 1824
                    date of birth 12./8/1821
                    marr ST PETER 25/12/ 1845
                    so when ordering cdrom
                    it must be ST PETER
