  • Trouble finding death

    Hey everyone

Ive been searching ancestry and bmd sites for the death of Israel Rosenthal but have come up blank. He was last seen on the 1891 census aged 75 living with his sons family in manchester.

His sons family are on the 1901 census but he is not. I assume he died within those 10years but cannot find him.

Could somebody please help locate him please.

Lol, its never easy is it.

He may have gone back to russia before he died but i dont think he did. The family later changed the surname to Rose.

Isn't there some business of Jews having more than one first name, used for different purposes?

I seem to remember Val, wish Id never started saying that.......

Maybe you need to look for all Rosenthal deaths that are male and the right age in the right place?

Husband's Jewish gt gt gt grandfather called himself Solomon on his son's birth cert, Zalig on same son's marriage cert, and Solomon Zalig on his death cert.

The fact that you can't find him on the census doesn't mean he's dead though.
My gt gt grandfather John Smoothy died in Chelmsford 1861 at same address as he was living in 1816, but I can't find him at all in 1841 desipte going through all 13 enumeration districts of Chelmsford, page by page!
