  • Obtaing copy of Marr Cert

I now know the date and place, vol number and page for the 1938 MC I was looking for in an earlier post.

What's the best/cheapest/quickest way of obtaining a copy of the MC? I understand the cert is about £7?

Do I write to the Croydon office or GRO?

(Sorry - first time in England - more used to Scotland's People!!)

I'm not sure if Croydon will do family history requests. Possibly only if you happen to know the date and place of the marriage. If they don't then you can buy online from the GRO, but apparently there are delays at the moment so rather than the usual four of five days they are taking three or four days longer.

    Croydons details are:

The Register Office, Mint Walk, Croydon, CR0 1EA.
    Tel: 020 8726 6300. Fax: 020 8760 5633.
    E-mail: register.office@croydon.gov.uk

Thanks for that. I've sent an email to Croydon office to ask what their procedure is.

Can you post their answer here? I was about to send a similar e-mail because I want to get a marriage cert from them. There is a link on their site to pdf files containing application forms for BMD certs, but the links don't work.
