  • Help with opening an SITX file please

I have been sent a photo which seems to have been compressed by a programme called stuffit.

I googled for programmes to expand it, but on downloading one, I wasn't given the option to scan with AVG before installing it so didn't risk the installation.

Can anyone recommend a safe download for expanding the file, or, alternatively, tell me if I should be able to open it any other way?

    Thank you.

I think the most important question is whether you are using a Mac or a Windows machine?

From what I can remember, stuffit is a Mac compression tool. I think somebody sent me some of those files but I just got them to send them in a different format instead - that might be the easiest thing for you to do?

Oh, well, looking at the Stuffit site it looks as though it is supposed to be o.k for Windows too - maybe I had it confused with something else? Anyway, this looks like the site to download from but as for whether it gets scanned by AVG I have no idea:

Thanks for the advice Kate. I'll ask them to resend in another format if poss then.

Sorry - my last post crossed.

I've tried a download from your link above and it allowed me to virus scan before installing. Hopefully it will now open the file.

              Thanks for your help.
