    Duxbury photo mystery

    Not sure where to put this but.......

    In an old house he was renovating (on the IOW) my OH found a lovely photo of 'AMY L. DUXBURY'.
    She is a woman of I should say about 50, and the photographer's name is 'Mason & Co, 7a St Andrews Street, Cambridge.

    I've found someone with the name DUXBURY as ancestors on the gedcom, have had a look on Ancestry (with nothing definite) but was wondering what more I could do to find her family.
    I don't really want to hang onto the photo as I have enough of my own to contend with

    Any ideas gratefully received

      Thanks Wendy - there was a case recently wasn't there?
      Seem to remember that someone had moved from the Island and taken a box with photo's and a certificate in it from the loft, which was already in the house before they moved in.
      Family and box of goodies re-united via the CP!

        Allie, are there any Duxbury's listed in the phone book living on te Island? might be worth looking?

              Not sure if this info might be helpful but there is a George Richard Duxbury b.1871 Bombay India who marries an Amy Louisa Cooke, as she looks about 50 in the photo's it might be her married name.

              There are trees on GR and Ancestry with them in their trees, their children seem to have lived in Hampshire so maybe George and Amy retired on the Isle.

                  Thanks for those ideas!

                  I've had a look in Gales but nothing definite.

                  Just one DUXBURY in the phone book - shall have to get the nerve to contact them!

                  Not had time yet to investigate the Ancestry & GR trees but intend to.....
