  • Transcribing for LDS

I recently had a breakthrough with my fathers family. A guy very kindly sent me his tree, which I have checked and is correct. I notice he has put details of the family (1800s) on LDS. Can anyone add information?

The homepage on FamilySearch.org - Family History and Genealogy Records has a heading "Preserve and share your family history" on the bottom right with a clickable bit called "Add your family tree".

There are zillions of personal submissions on the IGI, ranging from actual transcriptions to total fantasy.

Yes, I think so Jean. That is where a lot of the 'submitted' records come from. They are not only from actual church members. Sadly once there they can never be taken off. That's why you get multiple entries for some people - all slightly (or even a lot) different.
