    This is from an 1831 WIll and it says later in the document that he left England in May 1830 "to proceed to the Mauritius where he died"

    BUt I can't work out what it says on the third line.

    Isle of ???

    It looks a bit like France but I'm not sure that's it

    It is France. I have a rellie born Isle of France in 1816. It is in France, but I forget where!!

      Oh, it's either the bit round Paris, or Mauritius lol So I got that wrong.....

        oooh - taken by the British in 1810

        so I wonder if he was a military man then. All the other Rennoldson mariners were ships captains but appear to have been in it for the money rather than serving the nation.

        His son was a Commander, as in "Master and ...."
