  • Shropshire geography expert needed!

I have these two census images for the same person (I hope!)

    This one (1871)

    RG10; Piece: 4039; Folio: 86; Page: 30

    and this one (1901)

    RG13; Piece: 651; Folio: 106; Page: 37 (bottom line)

I can't find any ref to Amner in Shropshire, though on most censuses there's one or two people who think they came from there.........and I can't read the other image place.

Any ideas? (Esp if they can be made into the same place or very near!! lol)

The individual went into hiding for the 1881 and 1891...........

Will I do, as I'm not an expert? The second one is Horseman's Green which is near Wrexham and near the border with Shropshire. Not figured out the first one yet...

It looks as though the proper spelling may be Hanmer nowadays. But Google seems to be so used to it that when I googled Hamner, it just automatically came up with the matches for Hanmer.

I know that Shropshire is one of those counties that have lots of places that were at one time Wales.

Oswestry was Wales but is now Shropshire

That's alanjohn's pesky relative, John Hatton (about 1840 - after 1901). You most certainly don't want your OH to be related to him!! (if you think he is, then I would have a read of alanjohn's thread called "lancaster County" and then go and get yourself some divorce papers!! lolol)

                      :D
