  • Trying to get a copy of a Will

I found reference to a relatives Will on

Index to death duty registers 1796 - 1903
    COURT OF PROBATE

and wrote off to HMCS in York for a copy of the Will and Probate. This is the first time I have used this service and eventually got a letter back saying a search had been made and "no record was found".

Am I writing to the right place ?

Can I ask them to look again as there must be something there ?

    Any alternative suggestions ?
    Simon

Okay, Simon, I'll go and have a look at the National Probate Calendar to see if there are any details in there.

Hopefully if you send them a copy of this full entry from the National Probate Calendar then they will be able to find it (assuming it isn't actually lost!)
