Egypt General Gordon 1884

Does anybody know where abouts in Egypt that General Gordon was in 1884/5 as my Gt. Grandfather was killed July 1885 Egypt and I have assumed he was where General was fighting. Thank you.

I was sad to hear earlier this week that Charlton Heston who played General Gordon in the film Khartoum, had died. I thought he was lovely (Heston, not Gordon)
