If he died at sea he might be on the deaths at sea registers, I think they are on payperview on findmypast.com
But of course if he did die at sea his death would be informed by someone possibly not his relative and who might therefore have given wrong details about his age or name spelling.~ with love from Little Nell~Chowns, Dunt, Emms, Mealing, Purvey & Smoothy

My OH has two gg grandfathers who were lost at sea. They were fishermen whose trawlers were lost, one in 1893 and one in 1908. The only reference we have found to them is in newspaper articles from the time but we did find them on a list which had been compiled of 'Lost trawlermen of Hull' which gave us a clue of when to look.
Apparently there is no death certificate issued. We can't imagine what it was like for OH's gg grandmothers. The news of the losses took more than two weeks to trickle out because there was obviously no direct contacts. The way it was reported in the papers showed that at first there was hope that they were just late returning - then it gradually became clear that they were never returning.
Their names are not on the Findmypast listings, according to a couple of kind people who have looked for them.

Hello All,
I'm a new member to this but had to join in. John Scales Hullock is on my family tree: as are James and Bridget Hullock. I have been researching the Ullock Hullock family for years and can help with this. [users email address removed - please contact by using the private messaging system]
