  • Could someone find my Aldridge's please

Through the lovely link to the free Gale trial I found some more info on one of my OH's family but I've lost them in the 1881 census.

Could some kind person find them for me?

The husband is Edward Aldridge b 1827 Brimpton Bucks
Wife Emma b 1836 Windsor Berkshire
    children
    Florence b 1855 Cippenham Bucks
    Frederick W b. 1858 Cippenham
    Agnes Emma b. 1860 Cippenham
    Evelyn/Eveline Mary b. Burnham Berkshire
    Rosa b. 1869 Burnham Berkshire

    The 1871 ref is:
    rg10/1402 Folio 54 Page 1

Edward had a farm called Cippenham Court Farm but I can't work out how to serach by address on ancestry.

Had a quick look can't see your family but did find this by popping Court Farm in address box and Ald* in surname RG11; Piece: 1200; Folio: 44; Page: 1

Thanks for looking Jan. I'll investigate if the people you found are related.

I've been trawling the newspapers again and Edward left England for New Zealand in Nov 1880.

Apparently he came on hard times and left. He was a member of the Hunt, had the Queen at his farm and one contributor to his departing gift was Prince Christian.

Now if anyone knows how to trace a family in NZ, please let me know.

Try RootsChat. There is a board under General for emigrants to NZ. The folks there are very helpful.

You could also try Papers Past (the link is in the Wiki), but it would be better if you could get some idea of the area they settled in first. The folks on RootsChat would probably be able to suss that for you.

There is not a lot available online for NZ research.

Hi Jan no idea who went to NZ. The paper just says he took his family. There is always a chance some stayed in England.

Thanks for the ideas Lyn. I'll follow it up.

              Could this be him?

              View Record

Click on cameras for pics of grave.

If so then his will is at the Archives.

Lyn it could be him I don't know. Thank you for the links though. I'd forgotten about this thread so it was quite a surprise, a good one though.

                  You're more than welcome, Kit.
You could ask on RootsChat if anyone going to the Archives could have a look at the will & see if it gives wife or childrens' names.
