  • PHOTOBUCKET questions

Good morning. Just mastered putting photos on Photobucket but can't work out the following:

    1. The left hand box that says create new album seems to create sub albums so following my user name at the top it has arrows to the first album I created with arrows from that to the others. They all seem to be sub albums.

    2. I created a (sub)album named CERTS thinking I could download by family tree certs but it rejected them. They were scanned in PDF. It has accepted another document of printed page which was scanned in PDF. Now I want to delete or change name of that album and can't work out how to do it. It is empty.

I gave a friend the guest password to try out. He found it a bit confusing finding the album I wanted him to see as they were all sub-albums off the first one.

    Thanks for any advice. Liz

Don't use it very much just had a quick look and tried to upload various types of documents - this is the message I get.

The file "" does not have a valid image extension.
Valid image extensions are: gif, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp
Sub albums - that's what it looks like. Is very easy to move photos to organise in "sub" albums. Each folder can be shared individually. So you can give access to someone to album "a" but not "b" if you want.

      Liz,

If you click on your sub folder that is on the let hand side of bucket. it will open it and look somthing like this, except yours is empty.:

then click on edit at the side of your subalbum name you will see this: it allows you to delete/rename etc.. but you have to delete whats in the sub album before deleting the album, (which you are ok doing as you havent anything in it)

Hi Julie I think I can see what I did wrong but not how to correct it.

When I created new albums, I had not gone back to my user name but left the first created album up. This means the subsequent albums have all been made sub albums of that first album. Only the first one shows in the list under my user name.

I have to go into the first album to access the others. Can I move them?

Is there any advantage to tagging? Thanks - getting there. Liz

I dunno about tagging as I havent used it, but with your sub albums..

If it were me, then I would go to my furthest sub album and delete the contents then delete the album and carry on working backwards back to my main album and then start again.

I can't see a way where you can move the album although you can move the contents of an album to another album, if that makes sense.

Oh no Julie - lot in the family tree one and another one. Could I create a new album for each giving a slightly different name (under my user name) and then do the transfer you mentioned?

How do I do the transfer from a sub album to an album...thanks. Liz
UPDATE: I'm okay now Julie...I've cracked it...many thanks. Liz

Ah I remember having the same problem, and had to it that way too. I never found a way to move the album. Had to delete all the sub-albums and start again.

Dave - I created new albums with a slightly different name, and then moved all in the old sub albums by ticking each, tick select all at bottom of screen, then brings up where to move to and it did them in bulk. Then deleted all the empty albums, sub albums. Whew!

One thing I noticed was that when it brings up the list of where to move to, it doesn't always bring up the full list of your albums and sub albums. Anyway all done, learned that lesson. Liz
