Couldn't you find something a bit more challenging?!!!

I can't make it out, but I think the end is one of those fs pretending its an s so it ends double ss. Beginning looks like G but I can't think of any occupation that would fit. Gl-ss?

I can't make it out either, but I did think that it started with Glo.. and like Nell, I think that it ends in a double "s".
      Sorry!

I looked in the Old Occupations site under G but couldn't see anything likely.

Had a look at the occupations on the pages either side and no inspiration there either.

Given the fact that it is so faint I can hardly see it, I think the word is "Plumb" as in plumber. Not very likely for a 12 year old though, but we established on here the other day that my plumbers became painters and the two jobs at one time where more or less the same.

I tried to find him on FreeCen but it doesn't look as though it's been transcribed yet.

I couldn't find any Braces in a quick search. (Not very funny pun deleted).
