I hope that I am not too late for you lot.

I was wondering if anyone can let me know what the following census returns means? I am looking at Jane Symonds, b. 1825 in Haggerston, Middlesex. She is living with a family, the Collebb/Collett's. I am assuming that she is a servant (a 16 year old with different durname living with a family) but cannot read her or the Head's occupations.

Source Citation: Class: HO107; Piece 704; Book: 2; Civil Parish: St Leonard Shoreditch; County: Middlesex; Enumeration District: 5; Folio: 5; Page: 3; Line: 1; GSU roll: 438816

    Can anybody help?

    Once again ... many thanks!

    Jo

Jane's occupation is F/S (female servant).

The others are Cl. (clerk). I hadn't seen that abbreviation before, but I've checked the 1851 census, and they're clerks.

Ah, thanks Mary. I was thinking that it must be something like that and kicking myself because I knew it would be obvious.

      Thanks very much for looking!
