Countryman?

Does anyone know what a countryman would do as an occupation? ..I've looked on all the lists of occupations but can't find it. A couple of mine have 'countryman' ........ sounds to me like they do nothing.!!!

I would presume maybe the same as "gentleman" only in the coutry???

Just mad me remember I've got an odd one as well.

There are 1913 and 1828 definitions here. They're American but the definition sounds feasible
