  • Death of Edward Lee

Hi, can anyone help me find the death of my great grandmother's first husband. His name was Edward Lee, he was born around 1860 and married my gr grandmother Elizabeth Rout on 8/8/1891 in Kings Lynn at the age of 31. They had two children in 1892 and 1895 in Surrey. Elizabeth appears on the 1901 census as a widow back in Kings Lynn, so he died somewhere between 1895 and 1901 age approx. 35 and I cant find the death. Can anyone help? Thanks Wendy

I guess the only way to know for sure is to order death cert and see if there are any names on it that look familiar ?

You need to find all Edward Lee deaths between 1894-1901 and then see if the ages match or are close. Checking point on cert might be his occupation - but the problem with death certs is that the informant doesn't always have the full facts.

I think it more likely if they were in Surrey that he would have died there, and his widow returned to some place where she had relatives to help her.

Burial registers would help if you knew where!
