  • Canada, death records?

Can anyone tell me if you can find Canadian death records on line, or how I go about looking for a death in Canada after 1972?

Im looking for Annie Wells born 1892 I know she lived in London in her younger years but emmigrated to Sask in Canada when she was older, I last saw her around 1972 when she was over for a holiday. She was quite old then.

Sorry I took so long visitor popped in.

All I could find so far in Saskatchewan, is an Annie Wells born in England May 1886 married to Fred with one child on the 1911 census. Will have another look for death and correct birth date.

She was born in London, her name then was Annie Lewsley, I think she went over to live in Canada in the 1940's, Her husband was called Edward also born in London (Brixton)

          *Sorry I gave you 1896, its 1892*

OMG, Thank you so much, I think that's her.

I wrote to her several times after my nan died in 1972 and all of a sudden the letters stopped a few years later.
The birth year was estimated from the 1901 census. You have been a great help

Ooh I can help with place of death. Sechelt is a little town on the coast about 50 miles north of Vancouver as the crow flies. Crows can fly over water. Ordinary mortals take an hour's ferry ride for part of the journey.

And I can help too and look up the death cert at the local library (once I can walk again - have a sprained ankle). From memory, I think you'll get cause of death, where she was born, husband's name, where buried.

Sechelt is a lovely place to live, as Uncle John says, just north of here.

I only passed through Sechelt on the bus to/from Powell River ten years ago when visting my auntie. So all I saw was the bus company depot.
