How about the polite helpful approach: "Webb is a fairly comon name and I have about x-100 in my tree. If you give me some names dates etc. I'll see if there's a match."

Have they by any chance opened their tree? I had a couple of enquiries a bit like that and found their GR tree didn't go back far enough and was full of women with married surnames.
