  • could not find on census ??? Heres why !!!

Some time ago I was trying to find a family on the 1901 census could not find them
I did know they had a baby born in 1902 so searched at the address she was born in, and found them under a different surname Lester and not Miller, always have wondered why ??
Last night got speaking to an aunt and mentioned it to her , she said oh yes that was his stage name ????
I did know he sang but did not know he used a stage name .
    Mystery solved.

With a stage name, perhaps you can find an advert or reference in the papers or a Directory?

Legend has it that OH's gt gt uncle Edward Carter was an actor under the stage name of Edward Merry, and he allegedly managed the Penge Empire, but I haven't been able to confirm this yet. This is the same Carter family that started off as McCarthy!

Hi I have had a little google but the only one I came up with not him !!!
His father sang too, and my father and his brothers could all sing ,in fact my father won a competition at the Tropicana club somewhere in London, and he was a finalist on Opportunity Knocks with Hughie Green at some time.,
Maybe I will look into that now.
