Thanks Elaine. It occurred to me Charles was married before as his marriage to Harriet was in 1844, Stanton St Quinton, making him about 31 years old.

Will check this out now. Me head is swimming...thanks again. Liz

Am following swift behind. Just saved the census image for 1841...now on to the marriage. It's a wonderful surname for mis-spelling possibilities. Liz

That would tie in with his ? second marriage to Harriet in 1844. Just catching up putting this all in word doc.

While you are on a roll, can you solve this mystery of a more recent Pinniger:

(Jacob's grandson) BMD Birth: Charles Alexander Pinniger 12/1898 - Bedminster, Glos, Som.
Marriage: ? Charles A Pinniger 1922 Jul q Spouse: Sage. Long Ashton, Som. Vol 5c p1351
Cannot find his spouse under Sage or that ref. The page ref is right as looked at original.

You must be looking at the wrong page. The corresponding entry is there for Madeline Sage
                            1922 third quarter.

Hi Elaine, Thanks for that. I am having a bit of trouble with Ancestry - it only brought his name up. And not hers under Sage...I have a permanent window with just Ancestry toolbar which will only minimise and not exit. I can only get rid of it by shutting down. So I am working with a second window open with Ancestry...I think Heather is having probs too.

Blame the tool not the worker, that's my motto! Liz

Her name isn't coming up on freeBMD on Ancestry - but it was shown on the actual image as being the same district, vol, page no. etc.

Thanks Elaine...you are being very patient with me.

One remaining bit of the tree is Charles Pinniger's marriage (2nd one) to Harriet.

Submitted IGI: Charles Pinniger b1813 Wilts Death: 8/12/1895
Fa: William Pinigar Mo: Elizabeth Spouse: Harriet
Marriage: About 1844 Of Stanton St Quinton, Wilts (comes under Chippenham)

Couldn't find on BMD Marriages. Are you still in the mood? Will go off and have another look myself.

Another marriage can't find is Jacob's son, Charles Broom Pinniger to Winifred Sinclair. Their first child, Charles was born in 1898 Bedminster, Glos. Second one in 1900 Long Ashton. There is only 1 marr entry for him in London with a Winifred Fleming.

In 1901 they are staying with her parents in Portishead.

The marriage entry on free BMD gives her name as Winifred Daisy S Fleming - I wonder if the S stands for Sinclair?
