  • GRO double check, please.

I have downloaded a marriage cert application from Lancsbmd for:

    Edward WHITTAKER
    to Ellen KENYON
1842, Eccles Parish, St Mary. (Lancashire)

I noticed there is a surcharge, so decided to get it through the GRO - but it is not there.

I have checked all four quarters (images) but cannot match these two.

It isn't important - I shall just have to order from the local, but if anyone is at a loose end, could you check I haven't missed it, please.

(And if it really is missing from the GRO, that brings my tally to SEVEN missing GRO certs!)

Q4 1842 has an entry for Ellen Kenyon, the freebmd image is typed and matches the transcription but there is a query with the grooms. One is entered twice with an alternative spelling, i make it five grooms and three brides from the entry.

Ah, Glen, how did I miss that? Thanks! Off to check, to see why I missed it.

Wait...you are using freebmd not Ancestry?

Right, found it! It was the Chorlton bit that threw me, I think, I was expecting it to be either Salford or Manchester!

          Thanks again, Glen.
