After 1837, I know that a non comformist marriage had to be officially registered, so although the RO may not have a record, the GRO or local register office should have. My question is, what would have happened before 1837? Were records kept of nonconformist marriages, or did they have to get married in a conformist church? The non conformists that I am interested in are Primitive methodists and Lincoln archives only have baptismal records, but not for the dates that I am interested in :(
