  • Middle Temple Records....Lancashire

I've found quite a few family references in something called the "Middle Temple Records". I've googled and only found these to do with 1900s.

I'm looking at somewhere between 1300 and 1700, probably 1600s.

There is one hit on google but doesn't tell me what the records are.

    Thanks.

      Thank you OC, yes.

I found that heading, but couldn't get any page except the records for WW2.

The Inns of Court hold masses of archival stuff, some of it very early indeed. Another useful mediaval source!

              Joan.............I hadn't seen those either......obviously I live under a rock.

This started with a google book search that found so much info. Only problem is that most was not readable......but I am buying the Wordsworth book. That has three pages of OH's family.

I'm trying to work out OH's Sawrey and Kirkby families. They seem to be in a few pockets both in Lancashire (Cumbria now) and Yorkshire. I've found some C of E lot marrying Catholics. Now I've found a Quaker lot, who was tied up with a slave trader from Lancashire. Also iron furnaces, so all new to me.

It's really interesting, but I'm tying myself in knots. I've got a huge piece of paper and I'm trying to add people in areas and times.....................

In another thirty years I might have made sense of it LOL.

                Good luck, Libby

Incidentally I see the archivists at Middle Temple will carry out research for a fee - doesn't say what the fee is!
