Sheila, you could try looking through the Index to Death Duty Registers on findmypast to see if there is an entry for him. If he left a will, then that might be the only place you could find info on it online. But I could have a look in the National Probate Calendar the next time I'm at the Notts Archives if you like?

Monday and Ribouleau may have been either relatives or comrades.

According to the National Archives there was a Rear-Admiral Ribouleau:

There are several references to him on Google Book Search:

"Rear Admiral Ribouleau" - Google Book Search

There was also a Rear-Admiral Sir G. Monday, who appears in the same issue of the 1840 Nautical Magazine as Rear-Admiral Ribouleau:

Have a look at the London Gazette, which has a lot of military and naval appointments. There are numerous hits for Ribouleau:

Not managed to find out who Mitchell Thomson was - possibly a firm of solicitors who handled wills? Or it could be a person?

If you look at this link
Publications - Guidance - Probate - Guide to obtaining copies of probate records

it will tell you how to order a copy of the will. It can take several weeks to arrive, though.
