  • difficult bunch to find

Those who have been helping me out on WDWTYA will know how anoying my White family are - I don't think they knew how to tell the truth on census returns :(

Anyway, I have 4 children listed in 1881, who I cannot find births for, infact I can't find them anywhere else, So something about them on that census is wrong - or they could be imaginary.......

They are listed as children to Charles White and Mary A White

Robert White b. 1862 Southwark, Surrey
Mary Ann White b.1864 Southwark, Surrey
    Edward White b.1866 Southwark Surrey
    Charles White b.1870 Southwark Surrey

    RG11; Piece: 522; Folio: 90; Page: 30

They could be their children but I cannot find Charles or Mary in 1871 to prove it.

    Any ideas?

Have you found the marriage? Could they be Mary's children from previous marriage?

      Hi Heather

I have Charles and Mary's marriage certificate from 1874, she is listed as Spinster and he as a Bachelor.

But as I said this family wouldn't know the truth if it jumped up and bit them.

I am hoping to find them somewhere living in sin with these 4 children

            Thanks for looking Jim,

All I want is one birth reference so I can order a certificate to piece the puzzle together

            I don't think I'm asking to much...snif snif

as the rules for registering the births werent really enforced until 1875, perhaps you might have more luck in looking for bapts??

                Mary Ann Catherine Nuckley.........

Be warned she vanishes from 1851 until her wedding day in 1874, as does her mother Also Mary Ann Catherine Nuckley but she appears in 1875 on her wedding day (to her second husband, who only exists in 1875 and 1881)

I told you they are a difficult bunch ;)

If so they will have to wait till I get to the LMA (although I'm not sure if they hold the records, will have to double check) as the records for that time period aren't on the IGI :(

Don't worry, I am just going through the census pages one by one for Artilery, hoping the Nuckley's might still be near by - maybe then I will get a clue for finding Mary and Charles

Haven't found those Bishers/Fishers on any other census, There is another Nuckley marriage in 1875 on ancestry , I take it thats a different Mary AnnC?

                            Am keeping looking for you...

I dont suspect you have had a look on Findmypast? wondered if either they or the Nuckleys would be transcribed any better??

I did find some of Mary (jrs) siblings using findmypast as they were correctly trascribed there. But no luck with the Whites.
