    I have two applications to make for certificates in the 1850's.The area given is 'London' Was or is there an office with just the name London? Any help please?

      Thanks KiteRunner it covers a huge area! Rather than try to find which office it was issued under I will have to cough up to gro!

        From what I've read on a number of threads, you might have had to do so anyway. A lot of the London register offices won't issue certs for genealogy.

          Tower Hamlets do a search for certificates, and if you press the order button you can ask for ref checks. I was hoping more would have the same facility. ;)

            All London offices that do issue certs are listed in the wiki along with registrar homepage links, phone numbers, address and e-mail addys.

            Some only issue certs upto/from a certain date but there are around 40 or so offices that will supply copy certs.
