  • can't find their marriages

I am doing my step fathers family tree, but it seems some of the men either didn't marry the women they called wives or they changed names

    Can anyone find marriages for

    1. Charles Case - 1881 census Wife called Margaret, 1891 census - Mary, 1901 census - Mary Ann ( all born 1850/51 London). First child born 1880 Islington

    2. James Case - 1891 and 1901 wife called Caroline. (they are missing in 81). First child born 1879 Islington

    3. Lewis Daniel Case (Louis) 1891 and 1901 wife called Christina. First child born 1889 Bethnal Green

All lived in and around Islington area. Thanks

Just in case you thought everyone was ignoring you, thought I had better say I have had a look and nothing jumping out at me.

I have a gt grandmother whose second marriage (possibly in Islington) hasn't been traced. It's possible that your lot married in a batch that got missed off when copies were sent to the GRO.

I thought I might have a look for these later on, if the TV is rubbish!! (not holding out much hope though)

            Were the three men brothers?

I wonder if Margaret, wife of Charles in 1881 is listed incorrectly?

He is listed on that census as Charles F Case and there is this marriage:

              Marriages Q3 1879
              Arch William Whitechapel 1c 721
              Bradford Mary Ann E Whitechapel 1c 721
BROWN Isabella Charlotte Whitechapel 1c 721
Case Charles Francis Whitechapel 1c 721

The children of James and Caroline seem to go in for middle names. I thought one might be her maiden name, but it didn't help!

I think I am going to end up ordering birth certs for one child from each couple - really didn't want to do that as its not my family, and my step father won't want to pay for it either..........

Why people think this research is free is beyond me
